The majority of Apple Watch users are also iPhone users and the stats say that 1 out of every 10 iPhone users actually has an Apple Watch.
In this article, let’s learn in deep about Apple Watch battery life and also how to maneuver the Low Power Mode feature in the Apple Watch. The screenshots are from watchOS 9 but in case you have an older watchOS version, you should still be able to follow this tutorial.
How to turn on Low Power Mode on your Apple Watch
If you are still finding any difficulty, then you can look for the Apple documentation which is constantly updated for the older versions of the operating system as well. Please ensure that the Apple Watch is connected to the iPhone via the same iCloud id.
Low Power Mode on Control Center
First, let’s see how to turn on Low Power Mode via the Control Center on the Apple Watch. This works pretty much on watchOS 9, so do what you want to do with that.

- Open the Control Center by swiping up from the bottom of the Watch Face. The control center would have options like battery level, Silent Mode, Find iPhone, Airplane Mode, Wifi, etc., as you can see in the image below.
- Tap on the Battery Percentage option as seen in the screenshot above.
- You will be taken to a screen where you can see more battery health. Here you can enable the Low Power Mode.
- As you can enable that option, you will get a popup like this where you will be informed of what happens.
- You have two options where you can turn on low power mode and another option where you can choose the time frame for how long it will be turned on. When you thing Turn On Foryou will get the time options.
- You can turn them on for 1 day, 2 days, and 3 days. Make the choice and it will be turned off when the time is up.
The Low Power Mode is enabled now and it will have certain effects on your Apple Watch features. We will look at those at in the last section of this article. Now, let’s see how to turn on Low Power Mode via the Settings app on the Apple Watch.
Low Power Mode on Settings
You could also enable Low Power Mode from the Settings app on the Apple Watch. Yes, the apple watch has a Settings app. This is similar to the above option but does the same job.

- Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch. You can do this by pressing on the digital crown from the watch face screen which will show the App grid. Scroll around to find the Settings app which will look similar to Settings in iPHone.
- In the settings app, Scroll down, then tap Battery from the Settings app as you can see.
- Under the battery, you will see a lot of information as you can see like battery health and so forth.
- Turn on the option Low Power Mode as you can see in the screenshots below. You will get similar option like the previous section where you can turn on or turn it on for a certain amount of time as per your wish.
These are the two ways to enable Low Power Mode in the Apple Watch which is actually a new feature.
Use Low Power Mode based on the battery percentage
This is a feature that already exists because when your Apple Watch battery reaches 10%, you will be getting a prompt asking you to turn this feature on. It’s a good idea to turn that on.
But when you put it back to charge and the battery reaches 80%, Low Power Mode turns off automatically unless you made a choice to turn it on for a certain number of days.

- Low Power Mode turns off the Always ON Display.
- It also turns on the heart rate notifications like heart rate variations and alerts.
- Turns off the Background heart and blood oxygen tracking.
- Workout reminders will also stop when your turn ON the Low Power Mode.
- Incoming phone calls and notifications.
- Less frequent background refreshes.
Low Power Mode also affects the workout mode because when you are working out and tracking your metrics, a lot of power is consumed, so you need to enable it manually in the settings app for a workout to work normally in the Low Power Mode.
